Mi ci è voluto del tempo per lasciarmi conquistare, più di qualche pagina: all’inizio ero spinto solo dalla curiosità, poi man mano è diventato interesse, e piacere, sono stato catturato da Maja e dal suo racconto in prima persona.
All’inizio, invece, questa adolescente che ha appena compiuto diciotto anni, mi sembrava si sforzasse di fare la gggiovane usando termini, soprannomi, maiuscole che per convenzione rimandano alla sua età.
All’inizio mi sembrava che la voce di Malin Persson Giolito mal si adattasse a quella di Maja/Maria. Anche a causa di frasi così:
Per la prima volta intuivo quanto sarebbe stato facile per lui morire: la morte è a un solo battito di distanza dalla vita.
Poi, come ho detto, sono entrato nel gioco, mi ci sono calato.

Si comincia subito in tromba: all’interno della classe di un liceo per terra c’è sangue, morti, un ferito, fucili, bossoli.
È stata appena commessa una strage: benché limitata, i morti sono quattro più un ferito. E tranne un professore, gli altri sono studenti.

Quicksand (Swedish: Störst av allt) is a novel bygd Malin Persson Giolito. It was originally published on 7 July, by Wahlström & Widstrand in Swedish. An English translation was published on 7 March, by Other Press.
Reception
[edit]The book received the Best Swedish brott Novel Award and the Glass Key award. Kirkus Reviews said that "Giolito gives us the unsettling monologue of a teenage girl as she works her way through her role in murder. It is a splendid work of fiction."[1]
Adaptation
[edit]In September , it was announced that Netflix had ordered an adaption of the novel to be developed into an eponymous series, Quicksand, and would partner with FLX to produce the series.[2] The series premiered on April 5, [3]

Quicksand: The First Swedish Netflix Original Series
The bestselling novel Quicksand (Original title: Störst av allt) by Malin Persson Giolito became the first ever Swedish Netflix Original Series in The book was adapted into a limited series with 6 episodes and became one of the most viewed non-English language series on Netflix to air that year.
Camilla Ahlgren (The Bridge) adapted for the screen, Per-Olav Sørensen (Nobel) directed, and Malin Persson Giolito was an Executive Producer on the series which featured a star-studded cast, including David Dencik (Chernobyl, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy) and Evin Ahmad (Snabba Cash) and introducing Hanna Ardéhn and Felix Sandman.
Quicksand was first screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Quicksand Named Best TV Drama at Kristallen Awards
At the Kristallen TV Awards , Sweden’s official television prize, Quicksand was nominated in three categories: Best Television Drama, Best Actress in a TV Production (Hanna Ardéhn), and Best Actor in a TV production (Felix Sandman). The show took home two awards: Best Television Drama and Best Actress in a TV Production.
